Call Statement

“He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”( Micah 6:8 NRSV)

Everyone  should have a mission statement. It keeps you focused on your mission. Every believer should have a call statement- on what your purpose is. We can start with Micah. We are to act justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. That’s what we are to do. We must check ourselves to make sure that’s our foundation.  And then everything else is added. enough for now.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Pet. 2:9NRSV)

We have our identity as chosen, we are united as a holy nation, and our purpose is to proclaim what God has done for us. 

I found something in Black Panther and in Wakanda Forever. I hear Queen Ramonda whispering to us as she did her children. 

When T’Challa fought M’Baku for the crown and the position of Black Panther. 

And again when Shuri fought Namor for her life from the position of Black Panther.

Both were fighting for their lives, both had a reason to destroy the one they were fighting, but Queen Ramonda reminded them, “Show him who you are.”

“Show him who you are.” 

That should be our battle cry every day, to show the enemy who we are. As a people of God, chosen by God, to tell our redemption story through God. That’s who we are. Enough for now.
