Why is it so hard to look at our own faults? It must be hard because we are too quick to recognize the faults of others. Why is that? Haven't you noticed? "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother/sister's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" (Luke 6:41 NIV)
Ok, that is our next move. The next time you roll your eyes, or put down another, or not speak when you enter a room, ask yourself why? What is the trigger that affects your own wounding? Many times -it is a worth wound. Your self worth may have suffered and it can manifest in so many ways.
I just remembered something. When I was young I said someone was ugly. My parents said never to use that term. They said "no one is ugly, but they may have ugly ways." I've come to understand that so much better. The sad part is ugly ways will only hurt you. Others can appreciate your beauty, learn to appreciate the beauty that God has made in you.
Allow yourself a season of healing from your ugly, and then you will not only appreciate self but you can love others more. enough for now.
