Prayer is Answered

I am constantly being amazed at how God works.  God answers prayer so swiftly.  No?  Hmmm.  You see - God answers, whether it is a yes, no, not yet.   Our problem that we want answers now.  It comes from conditioning.  Children either learn to ask, then wait, or to be so persistent in asking over and over that some parents give up and give in.  And then there are the "no means no" parents.  So the few ask and try to wait.  Most keep asking hooping to break God down. Another group gives up with the possibly confused signal of "silence means no."

Daniel prayed for an understanding to his vision (Daniel 10).  He had fasted for 3 weeks and then he was visited by an angel.  The angel told Daniel to listen carefully and what he said has been one of my favorite passages, "From the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words" (Dan. 10:12 NRSV).   The angel then explains that he had been detained.  Read it with understanding.

The key - to gain understanding and to humble yourself.   Prayers are answered swiftly.  Wait on the answer.  type to you later.
