“You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?”
Guys, go back and read 20:20-24.
The disciples had no clue of what they were asking. Sometimes we think more highly of ourselves than we ought. Jesus gave them a clue, he said, “You don’t know what your are asking.” That was a way out but they jumped right on it. the other disciples were upset.
Here’s the thing - it’s all about servant hood. We walk as he has us, we learn how to serve, how to love, how to care. We learn how to walk in his will for our lives, and in doing so, he elevates, he does what he does. He knows what he has for us.
Too often we want what is not ours, and not to walk in what is ours. But it doesn’t fit. Spiritual growth comes from a fit in what God has for us.enough for now.
