Believe It

Psalm 125

“Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people,

from this time on and forevermore.

For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, so that the righteous might not stretch out their hands to do wrong.

Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts. But those who turn aside to their own crooked ways

the Lord will lead away with evildoers.

Peace be upon Israel.”

Spend some time with this Psalm. “Those who trust in the Lord cannot be moved.” Mount Zion is about 2,430 ft in elevation, so the Temple Mount is even higher. This is why you see in scripture “going up to Jerusalem.” It is higher than Mt Everest. It’s not going anywhere. It can’t be moved. That’s how powerful our trust is in the Lord- we cannot be moved.

And then - the mountains surround Jerusalem, yes they do. God surrounds us, envelopes us in his care, his protection. He keeps us when we don’t even know we need to be kept. That’s some keeping. When we let him, when we rest in his peace.

I kept the remaining passages just to show how he has kept us, he is keeping us, he will keep us. He ain’t going nowhere, we ain’t going nowhere. It’s his powerful everlasting love for us. Trust that. Believe that. Rest in that. enough for now.
